Breakfast Meeting > Retail > Non Financial Motivation
25 March 2011

Performances of an employee grow by up to 60% when he is truly Motivated in an organization!

  • Event Conclusions:

Craving to have a better understanding of this important issue, the “Non-Financial Stimulation Methods” theme has transformed into a real and actual subject of debate, a good opportunity for business meetings, within the workshops organized in Bucharest by AIMS Romania and Dale Carnegie Training Romania. During the morning meetings, the representatives of the middle and top management of several important Romanian industries, such as Retail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods, took part in open debates, revealing interesting and relevant details for both the organizers and the guests.

The conclusions drawn at the end of the discussions proved to be more than just useful and valuable, as they have led to a deeper understanding of the methods of Non-Financial Motivation, the manner in which they can be implemented, aslo revealing which are the specific expected results.

In short, here are some of the most interesting issues that have resulted from the meetings with professionals:

  • The important elements for increasing the employees’ degree of satisfaction are: acknowledging individual and team achievements, rotation of jobs, widening the area of responsibilities or the existence of development opportunities.

  • Companies in the retail industry have created and developed numerous non-financial manners to motive their employees in the last years, such as: closed circuit television, internal newsletters, raffles with non-financial prizes, themed events, etc.

  • Abstract: About Non Financial Motivation:

Developing professional performances through non-financial motivation

Statistics indicate that the performances of an employee grow by up to 60% when he or she is truly Motivated in an organization! Even so, a raise is not always enough to make employees have a higher yield or to be more content with their work place. The effects of financial motivation are definitely strong, however they do not mean everything. What determines people to really work is not raises or bonuses, but Motivation.

This is where non-financial stimulation methods come in, referring to the forms of reward or stimulation that do not imply the direct granting of money. Non-financial motivation is a widely spread practice in Western countries, and it is especially encountered in large companies. Such strategies cover a wide array of stimulators that can be divided in three separate categories: benefits related to the individual/to the employee, to the company or to the performed activity.

For the employee - the advantages of non-financial benefits are, amongst others: increasing the degree of motivation, increasing the level of self-respect, increasing team cohesion, elimination of stress, improvement of communication, the creation of positive mental associations between the work place and the state of mind and increasing the level of personal and professional satisfaction.

For the employer - the advantages of non-financial benefits are, amongst others: lower costs, increasing productivity, obtaining stronger and longer lasting effects by appealing to the emotional streak, increasing creativity and pro-activeness, increasing loyalty towards the company or increasing competitiveness, overall, and an indirect increase of sales.
